At the centre of the village stands the castle, a sentinel of time that offers a spectacular view of the coast. The Medieval Castle of Peschici stands on a rock overlooking the sea of the beautiful town. It was built by the Normans between the 10th and 11th centuries to defend the town from pirate and Saracen attacks. During the reign of Frederick II, the castle was enriched with the building of the splendid tower, known as the 'Rocca Imperiale' . Currently, it is possible to visit the lower part of the Castle, which houses the Torture Museum with an exhibition of more than 60 pieces.
