Gargano in Camper, itinerary to discover Vieste, Peschici and Mattinata.

Campers Friends! Are you planning a touring trip with your Camper to discover the beauty of Apulia? Then you can't miss the north of this beautiful region: the Gargano! Medieval villages, beautiful beaches, good food and our hospitality will make your holiday unforgettable. Visiting the Gargano by Camper is always a good idea. Nature takes centre stage on the Gargano and a Camper is definitely one of the best ways to fully immerse yourself in it. You can choose the landscape that fascinates you most or the bay you prefer, with the convenience of having a mini house at your disposal. Once you find the right spot, all that remains is to pull out the chairs and table and the holiday can begin!

Coming from the north, after travelling along the A14 motorway, take the Poggio Imperiale exit, the "Porta del Gargano". Already from the exit you will see the Gargano promontory in the background, stretching towards the Adriatic Sea. Continuing along the SS693 road, the cultivated fields on its sides will accompany you for a few kilometres until you reach Lake Varano. The road climbs the promontory and is slightly elevated just enough to give you a spectacular view of the lake, surrounded by olive groves and separated from the sea by a narrow strip of land that you can drive along in your Camper, taking a diversion to SP40. In this area there are the first campsites for those wishing to make a stopover. The beach is not among the most beautiful in the Gargano, but if you love sunsets over the sea it may be worth a stop.

Continuing your journey on the SS693, the road will allow you to catch a glimpse of some of the most characteristic towns of the Gargano hinterland, namely San Nicandro, Cagnano Varano, Carpino and Vico del Gargano, and will lead you to Rodi Garganico, one of the best known destinations in the Gargano. Here you will find numerous campsites, especially in the northern part of the town, at Lido Del Sole. After a long journey Rodi Garganico is well worth a stop. The medieval town, the long sandy coastline and the tourist port will certainly make your stay a pleasant one.

Departing from Rodi and continuing south on the SS89, the road becomes more winding but will give you the enchanting landscapes of the Gargano coastline at every turn. Almost without realising it, right after one of these bends you will see Peschici, a beautiful town perched on a rock overlooking the sea. In the lower part of the town you will find campsites and camper van parks, all of which overlook the only beach in the area, Marina di Peschici, which is inevitably very crowded, especially in high season.

We advise you to continue and drive along the coastal road SP52 towards Vieste, a beautiful and very characteristic road with views of several small coves and bays half hidden by maritime pines that seem to dive into the sea. 13 km from Peschici, on the right, you will find our small Camping Village. If you are looking for a quiet and regenerating place, family-run and surrounded by nature, we recommend you stay. We have comfortable pitches with a maximum size of 7x8 metres, all with natural and artificial shade and equipped with 6-amp electricity columns. Inside the campsite you will also find a bar, a trattoria-pizzeria, a mini-market with organic products and a playground for your children. There is also a larger supermarket only 3 km away.

The Camping Village is almost halfway between Vieste and Peschici, the two iconic towns on the coast, and can be your strategic base for discovering the wonders of the Gargano. The beaches closest to the campsite are within walking distance and are among the most beautiful in the Gargano. The public transport stop right in front of the entrance will allow you to organise your excursions. You can easily reach both Vieste and Peschici, visit the Foresta Umbra, San Giovanni Rotondo and Monte Sant'Angelo with its UNESCO World Heritage Sanctuary or discover the wonders of the coast with an excursion to the Sea Caves and the Tremiti Islands Archipelago. If you don't already have one, we can help you rent scooters, traditional and electric bikes and cars to drive you to the south coast of Vieste. There you will find some of the Gargano's most beautiful pebble beaches, namely Baia di Campi, Porto Greco guarded by the unmissable Torre dell'Aglio, Vignanotica and Baia delle Zagare. Continuing the journey south after the beautiful Vieste, you will come across Mattinata. The SP53 road connecting the two towns is winding but we are willing to bet that you will stop at every rest area to take photographs of the wonderful views of the sea that will open up before your eyes after each bend. After Mattinata, the coast loses much of its charm, you come to Manfredonia with its characteristic tourist harbour and, following the SS89, you reach the A14 motorway again. You are about to leave the Gargano, but we are sure that you will carry in your heart both the emotions given by the beautiful places you will have visited and the desire to return as soon as possible.
