Gargano in Camper, itinerary to discover Vieste, Peschici and Mattinata

Camper lovers! Are you planning a touring trip with your motorhome to discover the beauty of Puglia? Then you cannot miss the northern part of this beautiful region: the Gargano! Medieval villages, beautiful beaches, good food and Gargano hospitality will make your holiday unforgettable.  Visiting the Gargano by camper has always been a great idea. Nature takes centre stage on the Gargano and the motorhome is definitely one of the best ways to fully immerse yourself in it. You can choose the view that fascinates you most or the bay you prefer, with the convenience of having a mini house at your disposal. Once you have found the right place, all that remains is to pull out the chairs and table and the holiday can begin!

The Porta del Gargano, from Poggio Imperiale to Rodi Garganico

Coming from the north, after travelling along the A14 motorway, take the Poggio Imperiale exit,  'the Porta del Gargano' . Already from the tollbooth you will notice the Gargano promontory in the background, stretching towards the Adriatic Sea. Continuing along the SS693 road, the cultivated fields on its sides will accompany you for a few kilometres until you reach  Lake Varano . The road climbs the promontory and is slightly elevated just enough to offer you a spectacular view of the lake, surrounded by olive groves and separated from the sea by a thin strip of land that, taking a diversion to the SP40 can be travelled  by camper  and on which there are the first campsites for those wishing to take a break. The beach is not among the most beautiful in the Gargano but if you can't resist the charm of the sunset over the sea it may be worth a stop.  Continuing your journey on the SS683, the road will allow you to catch a glimpse of some of the most characteristic towns of the Gargano hinterland, namely San Nicandro, Cagnano Varano, Carpino and Vico del Gargano , and will lead you to  Rodi Garganico , one of the best known destinations in the Gargano. Here you will find numerous campsites, especially in the northern part of the town, at  Lido Del Sole . After a long journey Rodi Garganico is well worth a stop. The medieval village, the long sandy coastline and the marina will certainly make your stay a pleasant one.
